FEINEDINGE – Contemporary Handmade Porcelain Manufactory, Vienna

Made right here
Manufactory
Feinedinge is a small porcelain manufactory in Vienna’s 4th district. All pieces are handmade on site using traditional techniques and great attention to detail.
Sustainability guides our work: we recycle porcelain remnants, use recycled packaging and produce in small batches. Each object reflects our commitment to quality, mindful design and local, artisanal production.
In our manufactory, skilled craftsmanship and thoughtful design come together to create porcelain pieces that are durable, timeless and made to be used for many years.

1. Slipcasting
Liquid porcelain slip is poured into plaster moulds. The mould absorbs moisture, allowing a porcelain wall to form inside. The longer the slip remains, the thicker the wall becomes. Once the desired thickness is reached, the excess slip is poured out. Any remaining edges are trimmed, collected, and recycled into new porcelain material. After resting in the mould, the pieces are released and left to dry.
2. Retouching
Once dry, each piece enters the most time-consuming and important step: retouching. Using warm water and sponges, rims are refined, surfaces smoothed, and edges gently rounded. This careful hand-finishing gives each object its final form and character. The pieces are then fired for the first time in the bisque firing.
3. Glazing & Glaze Firing
After the bisque firing, the porcelain is glazed and placed into the kiln for the second firing — the glaze firing. This process takes approximately three days.
4. Final Touches
Once fired, the unglazed, matte areas are polished by hand until they feel velvety smooth. Only then are the pieces ready to leave our manufactory and find a new home.
Shop
Our shop is located next to the production space, offering an open view into how our porcelain is made. You can discover the full range of feinedinge porcelain. All pieces are handmade in-house, with love and dedication.
Visitors are invited to experience the working atmosphere of the studio and see where and how each piece is created. A place where thoughtful design, skilled craftsmanship and local production come together.
